Up to the Nyikom peak!

An ideal hiking opportunity accessible from Pásztó, our suggested hiking route leads to the Nyikom Peak. You can even leave your car at the parking lot of Varázsvölgy and start the Nyikom tour equipped with some local refreshments.

The hike is classified as easy with a medium difficulty level at the hardest sections. In terms of distance, it is of moderate length, approximately 4.5 kilometers, and can be completed in 2-3 hours.

The hike starts with a little sightseeing. The excursion, leading through the Rózsás, also includes a visit to the present-day center of the town, allowing you to experience the authentic atmosphere of Pásztó combined with the marvelous nature of the Mátra region.

Once outside the town, the path leads along vineyards reminiscent of the famous Pásztó grape cultivation that was renowned throughout the country during the medieval era. Even today, humble local farmers diligently cultivate their lands with great devotion.

After these landscapes, as far as the eye can see, long stretches of arable fields follow, running along the foothills of the Western Mátra.

After the arable fields, with minimal elevation gain and occasionally steeper ascents, hikers can make their way through the forested, bushy path. Along the route, there are several stops where one can climb public hunting towers and observe the surrounding wildlife and plant life.

Along the way, wild boar tracks, as well as deer and roe deer footprints, can be discovered, making it worthwhile for both children and adults to keep their eyes open.

At the Nyikom Peak, the paragliding launch site operates continuously. After leaving the landing clearing, we reach our destination.

The view from the Nyikom Peak is not only unforgettable for paragliders, but also for anyone else. It reveals Pásztó, the surrounding settlements, the ridges of the Cserhát Mountains, as well as the Mátrakeresztúr area and the Hasznos water reserves.

On calm, sunny days, it is a real treat to witness the preparation and takeoff of the paragliders.

Visit us and discover this great opportunity among the thousand faces of the Mátra Mountains!
